Lisbon to Lisbon — Belém
Belém is downriver from the cruise terminals. Tram 15 is the direct way and the scenic one.
- The metro does not reach Belém. Tram 15 is the route, and it is heavily used — going out early is materially easier than going out at midday.
Most ships also sell a coach excursion to Lisbon — Belém. However you travel, being back aboard before all-aboard is your own arrangement to make — we publish the journey, not your sailing. Your guide plays either way, and it is yours to keep.
- 10–20 min From the Santa Apolónia or Jardim do Tabaco terminals, walk or take the metro one stop to pick up tram 15 in the centre.
- 30–45 min Tram 15 west along the river to Belém, roughly every 10 to 15 minutes. The ride itself is about 40 minutes and runs beneath the bridge.
- 5–10 min The Belém stops put you within a few minutes of the monastery and the waterfront.
0.8–1.2 hours each way
Plan your return against your ship's all-aboard time, which is on your daily programme. It is earlier than the departure time, and if you are coming back by tender the last tender leaves earlier still.
