Saint-John to Hopewell Rocks
About 170 km by road around the Bay of Fundy, a little over two hours each way.
- The ocean floor here is only walkable around low tide, and the Bay of Fundy tide swings further than anywhere on earth. Check the tide table for your port day before committing — at high water there is nothing to walk on.
- Four to six hours of driving on a port day.
Most ships also sell a coach excursion to Hopewell Rocks. However you travel, being back aboard before all-aboard is your own arrangement to make — we publish the journey, not your sailing. Your guide plays either way, and it is yours to keep.
The ocean floor is only walkable around low tide, so this route is timed by the tide table as well as by the road. Check the day's low water before you commit to a departure, and leave room for the drive back.
- 130–170 min Rental car or pre-booked driver. Bus-plus-taxi is possible but takes closer to three hours each way and is not a port-day proposition.
2.2–2.8 hours each way
Plan your return against your ship's all-aboard time, which is on your daily programme. It is earlier than the departure time, and if you are coming back by tender the last tender leaves earlier still.
