Dikili to Pergamon
Pergamon is 26 km from Dikili, above the modern town of Bergama. The acropolis sits 300 m above the valley and is reached by cable car.
- The acropolis, the Asklepieion and the Red Basilica are three separate sites spread across the valley, not one walk. Choosing two of the three is the realistic plan on a port day.
- Dikili is a tender port for some ships, and tendering adds time at both ends that the road distance does not show.
Most ships also sell a coach excursion to Pergamon. However you travel, being back aboard before all-aboard is your own arrangement to make — we publish the journey, not your sailing. Your guide plays either way, and it is yours to keep.
- 30–45 min Dikili pier to Bergama, by road.
- 5–15 min Bergama lower station to the acropolis by the Bergama Akropolis cable car.
0.6–1.0 hours each way
Plan your return against your ship's all-aboard time, which is on your daily programme. It is earlier than the departure time, and if you are coming back by tender the last tender leaves earlier still.
